Purple Sea Urchins

Okay so my Biology class were experimenting on the reproduction process of Purple Sea Urchins the other day. It was very interesting . My teacher used a needle to inject a salt based substance into the Urchin to secrete sperm cells from the males, and the same process to secrete eggs from the females . Then he used a sort of suction type thingy to place both the sperm and eggs under a microscope for us to watch the fertilization begin. I mean, it's one thing when somebody just TELLS you what happens, and how it happens , but its a whole nother ball game to actually watch it . Pretty fascinating stuff .

Too bad Mr. Rosen & Mr. Parker didn't inform us that they wouldn't survive , until we where done with the experiement :(

Judging

Who can we really judge ? I was watching the Tyra Show the other day, and it talked about how Bi-racial people percieve themselves . One half Mexican half African American male said he would "NEVER want to be referred to as Mexican" because of the " bad name they've given themselves" and the stereotypes that have transpired about them . He said they come over here to tag our walls , and make our country dirty... But what he isn't realizing, is that he's part of that stereotypical critisism . And what makes Black people any different? We too carry a variety of stereotypes, but that didn't bother him. Basically, at the end of the show, the boy ended up sounding very ignorant, and as if he was adding on to the judgmental slurs being passed around about HIS OWN people...Who are we to judge ANYONE ?

Blood and Sweat , but no Tears .

Today was a good day ... Pause .

I went to my Girls Basketball practice from 4-5 , Then to my Boys Basketball practice from 6-8 .

Results from girls practice : A couple laughs , some running , a some coops motivated by not wanting to run anymore , sarcasm and a grip of unneccessary shit i could have stayed home for .

Results from boys practice : THE REAL THING . I've never worked so hard at Basketball practice in my life. I threw up twice , I fell on my ankle , my face, and my ass . I got pushed around and yelled at too. I bled , sweat , but I didnt cry. I got up , and handled buisness . Like I always say ..Who doesn't want a challenge ? I believe it'll be worth it in the end , so I'm in it for the long-hall .

I've noticed that I used to give up on a lot of things in the past , and at the start of this school year I told myself " I'm going to finish everything I start this year " . And to no surprise , I didnt keep that goal . But something clicked inside of me tonight. I've made a choice , especially after looking at so many faces of determination , and for some , basketball is thier only hope . I know what I want , and I want it BAD .

Meteor Shower; Shooting stars

When I was little , actually , up until about 10 minutes ago , I never knew a "shooting star " was really a meteor , just falling to the earth . With that knowledge , I still wished on two that I witnessed tonight . For some reason , the date 10.9.09 seemed to overthrow all my prior thoughts . I guess my thoughts really are solar powered , haha . Let's see what happens .

Back To School

Well , school has been cool so far. Today was day 3 . Everything's falling into place , and i rekon im going to have a goood school year :)

Sometimes i find myself being a bit on the negative side of things. Using excuses for why I "cant" do something , or why something's hard for me to do. But I was sitting here talking to Tracie about some things , and my wholeeee outlook is a lot different right now. I feel so positive about life. Like , my school year is about to be awesome as hell . Im the football team manager , I'm starting basketball , I'm going to start going to Ballet classes , attending the gym daily , and in addition , I will be a Vegeterian soon . I also plan on taking a trip to Brooklyn with a group of my closest friends for my birthday !:-D I feel like the word "drama" is no longer needed in my life. I dont even have time for it to find me like it used to. Maybe this is just part of getting older ? Or growing more mature ? Whatever it is , I like it , and I hope i can keep this sameee energy for the rest of my life . lol It feels good to say you dont have anything to worry about . all stress in my life is irrelevant. Tracie and I have taken on this same outlook together , and will be occupping ALL of our time. Im so excited lol . What im trying to say folks , is BE HAPPY. SMILE ! Life is goooood 8-)

Happy Birthday Babygirl

Yesterday was my youngest sister's birthday , and I made a mistake by not blogging about her. She turned 8 , and is getting bigger everyday. She just came back from Iowa for the Junior Olympics , placing 4th in the nation in the 4x100 meter relay , in her division.
